Lumecca IPL

Lumecca™ Intense Pulse Light  therapy is a powerful and effective redness and hyperpigmentation treatment, designed to reduce and remove hyperpigmentation and vascular lesions from the skin. From redness and spider veins, to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and sun damage pigmentation. It offers visible results after the first one to two sessions.

Lumecca is also used to treat active acne spots and to improve quality of ageing skin promoting skin regeneration.

How does IPL work?

IPL utilises photo-thermolysis technology. Intense pulses of broad-spectrum light penetrate deep into multiple layers of the skin. Light energy converts into heat, which breaks down pigmented brown spots, causes blood vessels to constrict, and stimulates collagen synthesis. The light energy and heat also interferes with the overactivity of sebaceous glands and has antibacterial properties in acne.

IPL is a gentle procedure ideal for sun damage, wrinkled skin, redness, broken capillary, pigmentation and acne as well as other skin infections. IPL treatment results in radiant, healthy and rejuvenated skin.

Lumecca™ IPL by Inmode is one of the most powerful IPL technologies in the industry. It uses both high power and optimised output meaning it is a very effective  treatment for removing any pigmented or vascular lesions.

Results can be achieved in 1-3 sessions compared to 4-6 sessions required by other IPL devices.

After just one use, clients notice significant improvement in the complexion and clarity of their skin. Lumecca features a sapphire cooling tip to make the procedure more comfortable.

Lumecca™ IPL uses intense pulsed light photo-thermolysis through the delivery of specific wavelengths of light which interact with red and brown pigments in the skin (melanin and haemoglobin). These pigments absorb the light energy and are destroyed, often in one session. Hyperpigmentation patches are fragmented and either absorbed and removed into the blood and lymphatic system, and thread veins are obliterated almost instantaneously to provide effective facial thread vein removal in Cambridge.

Lumecca has a high specificity and selectivity for pigmentation and redness created by sun damage and is one of the most powerful treatments for this purpose.

Where can it be used?

Lumecca™ IPL can be used on any part of the body. The most commonly treated areas are those that are most frequently exposed to the sun, i.e. the face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands and arms. Please note: A consultation and patch test is required at least 24 hours prior to treatment and included in your consultation should this be recommended to you by your practioner. This device is suitable for treating Fitzpatrick skin types I-IV, so may not be suitable for those with darker skin types. We offer alternative treatments such as our Pigmentation Facial, Microneedling and Bespoke Skincare products for hyperpigmentation in darker skin.

What downtime to expect?

Depending on the skin concern being treated the downtime varies but tends to be fully recovered within 7 days regarding you follow aftercare which your practioner will go through with you. When treating vascular lesions, there is a risk of purplish bruising.

Can I go into the sun after treatment?

We recommend avoiding sun exposure for at least 3-4 weeks post treatment. In addition you should not be tanned prior to treatment as this can make the skin more liable to burn.

When can I apply makeup after treatment?

We recommend applying SPF post-treatment and not using makeup for at least 24 hours, or even longer if your skin is still red or sensitive.

When can I resume normal skincare?

We recommend using no skincare products for the first day following the treatment. If your skin feels hot and red, you may use aloe vera or a soothing vitamin E gel. We encourage patients to let the skin settle by itself without applying any products that could potentially affect the skin’s integrity such as vitamin C, retinoids or AHAs for at least 48 hours, and suggest using a high factor SPF after treatment.

Can Lumecca IPL treat rosacea?

Yes, Rosacea patients can be treated and the treatment can be very effective for this condition.
