Radiofrequency RF

Radiofrequency (RF) skin tightenting is an aesthetic procedure that uses radio waves to creat heating under the skin. The purpose of this heating is to stimulate repair deep under the skin to help regenerate collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. This is a similar principle to high-frequency ultrasound but is more suited to delicate areas, such as those around the eyes where ultrasound would not be used. This treatment is designed to improve skin tightness and to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and loose crepey skin. The treatment itself is not painful and usually a course of two to three treatments is required to achieve the desired effect. This procedure is an excellent alternative to invasive treatments involving surgery or burning of the skin with plasma or laser.

At Hardwick Clinic we use a bi-polar RF machine at 3Mhz. This is the ideal frequency and power for dealing with sensitive areas such as around the eyes and the neck/under chin area. We can combine RF with dermaroller and/or mesotherapy to enhance the effects.

The major benefits of RF treatment are:

  • Relatively non-invasive
  • No needles
  • Very little downtime after treatment
  • Is delivered very precisely, where you need it
  • Long-lasting results from a small number of treatments
What Areas Can be Treated?
  • Eyes area
  • Jawline
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Entire face
  • Neck
  • Decollete

The Procedure

During your consultation we would define which areas would most benefit from RF treatment and make sure that this procedure is right for you. We apply a cooling gel to the area being treated. The procedure is not painful, the RF will create a feeling of warmth at the treatment site, it is important to tell your practitioner if this ever becomes uncomfortable. The area treated will be a little pink after treatment, particularly if a dermaroller is used in combination. This redness will fade rapidly.

RF Eye Lift

This procedure aims to tighten and improve the appearance of the skin around the eyes. During this procedure, your practitioner will gently use the RF probe in a circular manner around the eye area. This is not uncomfortable and feels like a warm massage. This procedure takes approximately 15 minutes. After the initial RF procedure we use microneedling on the area to stimulate the surface of the skin and to allow us to apply mesotherapy solution. This will nourish the skin further improving the effects of the combined treatment.

RF Facial

In this procedure, we start by exfoliating the skin on the face using a chemical peel or microdermabrasion followed by an RF treatment of the entire face. This procedure can be combined with mesotherapy to enhance the skin from the surface in addition to the deep stimulation provided by RF.

Results can take up to 10 days to become apparent and usually a course of 2 to 3 treatments is required for the full effect to be achieved

Frequently Asked Questions

How many treatments will I need ?

Treatment will vary from individual to individual according to requirements. A course of three treatments delivered 3 months apart may be required to achieve the full effect.

Will I notice results immediately ?

The final effects of RF treatment become fully apparent after 2 to 3 weeks. However, you may notice a tightening and lifting effect straight after the procedure. The procedure will stimulate regeneration, rejuvenation and improvement in skin tone and quality. Lifting and tightening results vary from person to person.

Are the results permanent ?

To continue to maintain good skin-quality, it is required to engage in a good skincare regime. In general the results should last at least 12-18 months. A good skincare and skin rejuvenation regime will prolong the longevity of the results and also slow down ageing processes in general. Single maintenance treamtents may be required at 12 month intervals to preserve the initial effect.
