Botox

Botulin (Botox®, Bocouture®, Xeomin®, Dysport®) treatment

What is Botox®?

Botox

Botox® is purified protein produced from Clostridium Botulinum and is approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) agency. It has been used on over 1 million patients for almost 20 years and is supported by long-term safety data.

Bocouture

Botox is injected directly into a wrinkle area, temporarily relaxing the muscles. It especially good for improving and preventing lines in the upper part of the face, such as vertical lines between the eyebrows, creases in the forehead and crow's feet at the sides of the eyes. Botox is also used to improve the position of the eyebrows and the position of the corners of the mouth (the 'marionette' lines). Repeated Botulin protein treatments reduce the development of new lines and wrinkles as the muscle become more relaxed.

The results are not immediate. Botox takes 5-10 days to start working and the full effect is achieved by 14 days. For the best long-term results the initial treatments should be approximately 12-16 weeks apart. The intervals will eventually become longer as your muscles learn to be more relaxed.

Dermal Fillers

The skin is made up of layers. The (usually) thin outer layer is called the epidermis. Beneath the epidermis lies the dermis which is up to 20 times thicker than the epidermis. It is into the dermis, at varying levels, that dermal fillers are injected. They may also be injected at a much deeper level (even down to bone) during a Soft Tissue Face Lift. The sub-cutaneous skin layer lies beneath the dermis. See diagram here.

Fillers

Dermal fillers are used to plump out or soften facial lines and wrinkles. They may also be used to replace lost volume, define facial contours and to create fuller lips. Dermal fillers are now at the forefront of anti-ageing procedures and in many cases have taken over from surgery in improving facial definition. We do not use permanent fillers as these can cause long term problems. Our fillers however do stimulate the skin to produce its own collagen giving the appearance of “growing younger”.

Hardwick Clinic uses a variety of different fillers for different applications. We use hyaluronic acid fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a natural filler in the body. It has been used in other branches of medicine for quite some time. Examples of hyaluronic acid fillers include the Restylane products by the Swedish company Qmed or the Teosyal products from the Swiss company Teoxane. We also use Radiesse, a filler made from calcium hydroxyapatite by Merz Pharmaceuticals.

Other procedures available

  • Non-surgical Rhinoplasty
  • At hardwick clinic we offer a non-surgical nose-job (rhinoplasty) using dermal filler. This treatment can be used to smooth and shape the appearance of the nose.

  • Jawline Contouring
  • We can use dermal fillers to contour and restore volume to the jawline for a more youthful and defined appearance.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy - Vampire Facial

Sometimes known as a Dracula or Vampire facial, this procedure harvests growth and healing factors from your own blood to promote skin rejuvenation. This therapy is especially beneficial for the face, neck and décollete and can be used in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation therapies. At Hardwick clinic we can create a bespoke combined treatment plan for you.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy involves taking blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate, blood cells, platelets and plasma. The fraction containing platelets also contains growth factors and other essential factors for healing. Numerous important proteins are present in PRP: platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor (TGF), platelet factor interleukin (IL), platelet-derived angiogenesis factor (PDAF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), epidermal growth factor (EGF), insulin-like growth factor IGF and fibronectin. Our methods harvest a very pure and concentrated PRP fraction containing these important growth and healing factors which can then be injected under the skin where they can promote skin rejuvenation.

PRP Therapy at Hardwick Clinic

We extract PRP from a small quantity of your own blood, usually taken from the arm. During the treatment we draw blood and spin it in a centrifuge to separate it into: blood cells, platelets and plasma. The blood cells are excluded and the remaining plasma and platelets are spun again in the centrifuge to produce a very concentrated mix of platelet-rich plasma containing growth and healing factors. The PRP we harvest from your own blood is then injected into the areas required. The top layers of the skin tissues are injected with this PRP to receive the nutrients needed to stimulate repair.

PRP Therapy can be combined with mesotherapy and dermaroller in a single session. At Hardwick clinic we provide a complimentary chemical peel, before PRP treatment to give you best possible results.

We can treat almost any area of the body including: Face, Neck, Décolleté, areas of cellulis and the scalp (for hair loss treatment).

Post-treatment, redness of the skin usually lasts for 2 hours but can last up to 48 hours. Swelling of the skin is usually not long-lasting but can last for up to 48 hours. Bruising is usually only small superficial bruises.

Is it for me?

Because PRP doesn't involve injection of a medication there are few patients who are not suitable for treatment. PRP therapy should not be used by people with the following conditions:

  • Critical thrombocytopaenia (a low number of platelets in the blood)
  • Septicaemia
  • Haemodynamic instability (an unstable blood pressure)
  • Infection at the site of injection
  • Pregnancy and breast-feeding mothers

Hair Loss Treatment

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy can be benefical for treatment of some types of hair loss in both men and women. It is most commonly used for treatment of male and female pattern baldness. Hair loss (alopecia), has many different symptoms and causes. One of the most common types of hair loss, affecting almost 50% of men by the age of 50 is known as male pattern baldness. In women, alopecia sometimes presents as hair-thinning on top of the head, most noticeable in menopausal or post-menopausal women. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has been shown to be especially useful for treating these type of baldness, particularly in combination with medication.

At hardwick clinic, we are pleased to be able to offer both PRP and medication based treatments for hair loss. We will work with you to develop a treatment plan that is safe, effective and suitable for your needs. Please contact us for a free consultation.

Non-surgical Face Lift

Non-surgical facelift

We are very pleased to be able to offer a wonderful non- surgical facelift which we have developed ourselves. With this we can disguise eye bags, add volume to cheeks and put back the volume lost as one gets older. We can make lips more luscious (without the so-called "trout pout") and open eyes. Jowls may disappear. It takes between one and two hours to do and is long-lasting. The face lift starts at £650 and many of our clients say that it has saved them having a surgical procedure.

We are one of the few clinics to offer total liquid face lifts. We insert small tubes called cannulas under the skin through which we introduce a variety of fillers to replace loss of volume in all the areas which require treatment. This is a painless process as we use local anaesthetic in the areas where we insert the cannulas. There is very little bruising.

For more information on cannulas and the treatment please visit Restylane
